These terms and conditions (Terms and Conditions) govern the Play Lottery (Competition) which Automatic Spaghetti Productions Ltd (the Organiser) are running from February 2025 to April 2025. You (“You”) are the writer and author of the work.
By entering the Competition, You are accepting these Terms and Conditions, and by entering Your script (the Work) You acknowledge that the Terms and Conditions may be changed, whether verbally, in writing or otherwise, by the Organiser at any time at its sole discretion.
You acknowledge that You are submitting Your application and Work on a voluntary and non-confidential basis.
To enter the Competition You must complete the online application form. All entries need to be received in digital form (not a hard copy) and entries will be accepted in word doc or PDF formats only. Works received in other formats will not be entered and the writer will not be contacted.
All applications with accompanying documents must be received by 12:00 midday on Monday 10th March
Only one application per person will be accepted. Co-authored Works will be accepted and considered as the entry for each writer. Writers who are found to have made multiple entries will have all of their submissions disqualified.
In order to ensure that the Competition is open to a wide range of candidates, the Organiser may, at their sole discretion, actively approach potential applicants and invite them to apply.
The Organiser has the right to disqualify Your application if: (a) Your entry is incomplete and/or illegible; (b) You do not meet the entry criteria; (c) You are not eligible to enter the Competition; (d) You cannot be contacted; (e) for any other reason at the Organiser’s sole discretion.
You shall retain the copyright in the Work you create for the Competition ("the Work") and by submitting Your application to the Competition, You agree that should Your Work be shortlisted, You hereby agree to grant your Work as an exclusive option to the Organiser with the stage rights to your Work to remain vested with the Organiser up to and including 18 February 2025.
By submitting Your application, You warrant that:
a) You own the copyright in the Work;
b) The Work is wholly original with You as the author/co-author;
c) You own and can grant all rights in the Work and Materials (as defined below) as required under these Terms and Conditions;
d) Work and Materials shall not contain any material that constitutes an infringement of copyright of a third party;
e) No material submitted or performed will encourage criminal activity, incite or endorse hate speech, libellous, threatening, discriminatory behaviour, or is likely to bring the Organiser into disrepute;
f) All elements of Your submission comply with all applicable laws.
Failure to comply with any terms in these above clauses shall result in Your application being disqualified.
By submitting Your application, You agree to undertake all reasonable press and publicity as may be required by the Organiser in relation to the Competition and the Play Lottery, without limitation, including audio and filmed interviews.
The information You provide will be kept confidential by the Organisers and will only be used for the purposes of administering the Competition (including to consider Your suitability to take part) and to fulfil any applicable statutory, regulatory or compliance obligations. The Organisers will process and store Your personal data, including Your contribution, securely and in accordance with data protection and privacy laws.
You understand that the Organiser may already have and may in the future receive or independently develop materials similar to Your Work. You agree that the Organiser may use these similar materials and that You will have no actions, claims, rights, demands and set-offs whether in law, equity or otherwise against the Organiser either jointly or severally for any such use. Any resemblance to the Your Work in subsequent presentation of dramatic works produced by the Organiser is entirely coincidental.
Your personal data will generally be restricted to relevant members of the Competition, (if any) production team and crew and, where necessary, we may also share information with the Mercury Theatre's staff. Only the names of the writer(s) selected by the Competition will be disclosed to the public. Data will only be shared to other third parties with Your prior written consent.
The Organiser will retain Your details and Your contribution to maintain an accurate record of the award and for the purposes of administering future awards. If You are not selected, we will securely destroy Your personal data no later than 6 months after the application closing date and, in any event, when it is no longer required, and we will not use it for any other purpose. Any personal data held by the Organiser will be deleted at the end of the Competition. If You would like to withdraw Your entry, please contact us at jej.rycroft@gmail.com
The Copyright of the Play shall remain vested in You and no rights therein shall be granted to The Organiser, unless a separate arrangement is made. Any suggested changes or comments of any kind whatsoever pertaining to the text, stage business, or title made by a representative of the Organiser and incorporated by You shall be deemed to be a part of the Work and shall accrue to the copyright of the Work and become the sole property of You, the Writer.
The Competition and these Terms and Conditions will be governed by English law and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
